"Toreador, prende-garde!"

What do you do when you finish your Deutsch class, pwn the exam, and live in Germany? Listen to Carmen.

Personally, I find bullfighters fascinating. Not that I would ever go to a bullfight, but the idea of toreadors as public figures interests me. Who knows, maybe I'll write about it someday. For now, I will listen to the dashing Ludovic Tezier swagger his way through this fabulous aria.

Congrats on triumphant exam results! (I'm emphatically unsurprised.) Matador culture would be a fascinating topic of research, I think: public acclaim but ambiguous/liminal social status, undergoing physical danger, regarded as possessing sexual allure... whatever the internal logic of all that is, it probably says something not too flattering about human nature, I suspect.

@Lucy: Well, I'm not sure I triumphed per se, but I think I definitely passed. Fingers crossed!

I think becoming a toreador might have been a very wise decision to make for young men back in the day. Upward mobility and all that. I'm going to have to do some reading on the topic.
