The house where Beethoven composed "Fidelio"
I am in Vienna for a week. Naturally, I am doing Very Important Things. Like visiting all the places where my favorite composers lived.
It's a deceptively simple building, and not very well publicized: the only way I realized that this is what I was looking for was the "Beethoven Shop" sign. Otherwise it was unmarked. But if you climbed up four flights of stairs, past the apartments were people actually live (!!!!!), you will find Beethoven's lovely, airy apartment.
It has a good view of the Vienna University, which I don't think was there in his day:
Did I have a moment? Yes, I did. :-)

Vienna University's existed since the late 14th century, so there's been a building there, maybe not that one, but there was a university building blocking old Ludwig's view.
Wonder if any of the other people in the block get his mail ?
I hope you're enjoying the holiday.
